With a light hearted approach, a good sense of humor, a problem solving curiosity, and a love for collaboration, Cate offers an honest and authentic vision in her work.

The goal of every project for Cate is to create something with soul for the brand and client. She takes time to research each project, gets to know the heart and vision behind the client, and pours that inspiration into each shoot. Cate adapts to each project at hand, with a personal style that gravitates towards well-loved & lived-in spaces, naturally arranged flowers, and comfortably curated tabletop stories. However, she’s not afraid to design clean sets, positioning products or people as the focal point.

Cate spent nearly a decade in NYC gaining experience in event design and production, studying floral design in small floral boutiques, and creating magical store and window displays for Anthropologie. She then made the plunge into the world of magazines. For about 8 years Cate worked in-house at Hearst magazines as a Style Director, styling photoshoots across multiple brands including Country Living, Good Housekeeping, Women’s Health, Cosmo, Woman’s Day, Redbook, and Dr. Oz.

In 2020, after relocating to Los Angeles, Cate launched her own creative studio, Buttermilk Collective.

She is looking forward to hearing about your project!
